Over time, your roof will naturally lose durability. You may have cracked or missing shingles or dips in your roof. In some cases, a full replacement may be required. Our residential roofing contractors will be there to help, no matter what state your roof is in.

Roof Installations

Basin Roofing & Construction offers shingle roofing solutions for residential projects, including multi-family homes and apartment complexes in Texas and beyond. We strongly stand behind both of these types of products! Only the industry’s leading materials are used for our clients’ roofs; some of these include the likes of GAF, Owens Corning, and TAMKO.

Fiberglass Composition Shingle Roofing

Basin Roofing & Construction uses fiberglass composition shingles for new roof installation and roof replacements for residential clients throughout the Lone Star State. Most homes still use this type of shingle because they are a cost-effective solution that still holds up to other market options. Residential properties are best suited for shingle roofs because of their affordable cost and opportunities for customization.

Composition shingles are made with a fiberglass reinforcing mat that is covered with a mineral filler coating on one side and asphalt on the other. The shingles are then embedded with a layer of ceramic granules. Shingles are nailed into the roof deck, overlapping one another for increased protection from the elements.

While shingles are a durable material, they are not impervious to damage. It’s important to have a reputable contractor perform a roof inspection annually, and we also suggest taking a moment for a visual inspection any time after a severe storm. Shingles can crack, tear, or go missing after a time, so it is important to catch any issues right away before water or other damages set in. Replacement may become necessary in these cases, but first, our inspectors can give you a professional opinion and estimate. Call our trusted residential roofing company today! We provide roofing services to Arlington, Plano, Frisco, Richardson, Fort Worth, Midland, Odessa, TX, and the surrounding area.

Types of Composition Shingles

3-Tab

In general, this is the most common composition shingle variety. They are the easiest to maintain and are the most budget-friendly option. There are vertical slot notches on each shingle; these split the lower portion of the shingle into three tabs. Manufacturer warranties can range between 20, 25, and 30 years.

Laminate

Also called dimensionals, laminate shingles are very similar to 3-tabs. With this product, they have a second tabbed layer that is fused to the base shingle, essentially doubling the thickness. Because of this design, laminates are an “upgraded” 3-tab. Most warranties come in 30, 40, or 50 years.

Architectural

In terms of composition shingles, architectural varieties are the best of the best. Their design features slabs that are packed on top of one another for superior strength. They are thicker, heavier, and larger than laminates and can be purchased with features like moss retardants. Most warranties offer 50 years or a full lifetime protection.

Benefits of Composition Shingles

Affordability

All makes of composition shingles are very affordable when compared to other residential roofing solutions. Whether you are installing a new shingle roof on your home or just need roofing repairs, composition shingles are less expensive and can be installed quicker, leaving you with lower labor costs.

Durability

Asphalt shingles only last, at most, around 20 years. In a roof’s ideal lifespan, that’s on the lower end of the spectrum. Composition roofs generally last closer to 50. These shingles also offer UV protections, lower energy costs, fire resistance, and mold, algae, and fungus growth deterrents.

Aesthetics

Composition roofs can come in all sorts of colors, textures, and styles. These aesthetic choices are just as important as functionality when it comes to selling your home later on. You’ll never have to compromise one factor for another with these shingles.
